Landscape Assistant Superintendent, Bruce Foreacre, will lead a highlights tour of native plant communities, including riparian buffers, retention basins and a rare serpentine barrens habitat. Each habitat is home to thriving wildlife. Bruce will also share his insights on working with homeowners and other stakeholders on the appreciation of native plants within a traditional landscaped community. After the tour, there will be time for questions and a picnic dinner in the maintenance shed. This is a great opportunity to see an example of landscaping with native plants on a larger scale, inspiration for larger properties, homeowners associations and public grounds. Bruce’s experience as an advocate of native plants can be helpful for everyone. The serpentine barrens is a unique habitat, quickly disappearing, with a range of unusual plants.
